Stained-glass

The most valuable of all existing glass painting techniques is Tiffany. The method is as following: each piece of colored glass is wrapped all round with Dutch gold and then the pieces are soldered together in various combinations.

Patterns and pictures made of colored glass come out three dimensional (convex or concave), filled with light and air, which gives them a unique touch. Deflected sun rays make the glass burn with vivid colors, and every time the glass painting looks different.

In order to avoid oxidizing of soldering, the finished piece has to be patinated and coated with antioxidant. Peculiarity of this procedure is that it cannot be automated and has to be performed by hand which leads to the high cost of artistic glass paintings.

The Tiffany Style studio performs work of any level of difficulty –from ready sketches to individual designs. In each specific case we discuss with the customer not only the sketches but also the type of technique to be used and materials.
